I am constantly exploring what art is and what it means to me. I love trying new things and just playing around with supplies. :)
I thought it would be fun and challenging to make a project without a photo so I decorated a tiny little board book using elements from the kit. I kept the focus simple. One word on each page spread (to go with the book's title) and an interesting background.

The papers work so well with paint.and those fabulous Daisy D's rub-ons. This was very fun to make!

For some reason, I felt very strongly about the blue accents on this page. I used a gel pen to color the red dots on the patterned paper and made sure to use other elements that incorporated blue on the page, such as the accent heart and the blue border strip behind the photo.

The other thing I tried here was using the reverse side of the lace cardstock against the pale patterned paper. I love how subtle it turned out. I think itl manages to balance the large chunks of color on the opposite half of the layout.

I knew when I saw those wonderful word rub-ons that I wanted to do a page that had a large focus on text. I supplemented the rub-ons with some crazy word stamps. I think the soft colors of the Elsie paper nicely balance out the black text.

I also tilted the angle of the patterned paper block for a funky offset look.

That Daisy D's paper is so sweet and dreamlike I knew it would be perfect to work with the semi-gritty polaroid photo I took of the cherry tree in our backyard.

I used the lace cardstock as a mask and painted over the patterned paper at a few different angles to mute the background paper even more and then placed it at an angle from my journaling block for contrast.

I placed the circle stickers in a random pattern and also punched a few more circles from patterned paper and other stickers to create a fun sense of movement on top of the lace cardstock.

The final touch I added was to cut up the "pearl strand" so that the individual pearls could be placed just like spring dew drops all over the layout. I used a strong clear liquid glue to keep them in place.

I wanted a really messy base for this one to contrast with the lovely graphics of the patterned papers and the big red photo frame, so I distressed the edges of the cardstock with a paper edge distressing tool and added some yellow ink on the edges. I also schmeared white paint on the cardstock so it would peek out from behind the patterned paper.

I trimmed the Sass Lass paper to a smaller size and framed it with a border using pinking scissors and the opposite side of the patterned paper. I then stitched around the edges with red thread for contrast.

I used a Flickr Mosaic maker to make a mosaic of all my own favorite photos. I thought it was a great way to get a lot of photos down on one layout. There are 30 mini photos on this page. That has to be a new record for me!
