I had the good fortune to get my hair cut at a salon that had really funky green lighting in their dressing rooms. Luckily I always carry a camera on me and was able to get some really fun shots of myself in the mirror. To show action, I used some consecutive shots in a fun, unbalanced mosaic.

Also, this layout uses no cardstock. Competing patterns work well when they belong in the same color family. Distressed edges and the use of decorative scissors also can add some flair.

Go bold. Try monochromatic colors and a big title to balance out a small photo block. Don't be afraid of "white space."

For an utterly fashionable background I cut up my magazine page into thin strips and arranged them on the cardstock. I used gesso to glue them into place and then ran my sewing machine all over. I used two different kinds of stiches for contrast. The result is completely funky and totally fabulous!

Create a sense of whimsy by placing your journaling stickers in an uneven fashion across the page.

To give the background some texture, I painted over the textured side of the cardstock and used a craft scratcher to scratch through several layers of paint. For additional texture, I painted over the scratched areas and repeated the process until I had achieved my desired level of roughness. Distressed edges let the natural cardstock color peek through.

A stapled border and torn eges help accentuate the photo border.
